Finom
Finom is a European business bank and financial platform for small and medium-sized businesses. Accounts and payments are the foundation, with cards, invoicing, expenses, and accounting on top. This lets business owners manage money and daily operations in one place, quickly and with control.
Today, Finom is one of the growing players in European SMB fintech, with 100,000 businesses and has raised €300M in funding.
Key markets: France, Germany, the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain.
I joined Finom as the founding designer and grew into Head of Design over 7 years. I stayed hands-on throughout, shipping product, building systems, and scaling the team in parallel.
- Designed end-to-end product experiences across 5 core domains: payments, cards, invoicing, accounting, and AI-powered workflows, from 0 to a platform serving 100,000 businesses across Europe.
- Built a unified UX architecture for web and mobile, replacing fragmented team-by-team approaches with shared interaction patterns used across all product squads.
- Scaled the design system from 0 to 400+ components, adopted by all product teams as the single source of truth for UI decisions.
- Grew the design org from 0 to 13, built hiring criteria, onboarding, and cross-team rituals across three rounds of org scaling.
During this time Finom evolved from an early-stage product into a full SME financial platform operating across multiple European markets.
My work centred on the core financial workflows that SME customers rely on daily: getting paid, making payments, managing company spending, and maintaining a clear picture of their finances.
I paid close attention to where users struggled - in activation flows, first financial actions, and recurring tasks like invoice creation or payment setup. I used product signals like activation rate, task completion, and repeat usage to evaluate whether a design decision was working or not.
Across every domain, the focus was the same: reduce friction in high-frequency financial tasks and make complex operations feel predictable and in control.
